About

Miles Nolan

I am well placed to help growth companies develop a compelling investment narrative due to my background of working on several sides of the ‘City table’.

I started my career as a financial journalist, working for the long established Financial Times publication Investors Chronicle where I held the influential role of Smaller Companies Editor. This provided invaluable access to management teams, interviewing hundreds of entrepreneurs spanning a wide range of industries.

I have also worked as the Editor of Growth Company Investor (since acquired by Vox Markets), a role which allowed me to evolve the editorial message of the magazine, and further promote their annual awards event. The combined output across both titles has spanned over 3,000 published articles.

My City career progressed to working as an analyst and in corporate broking, as well as in house as the Head of Communications for a wealth manager, a role which included writing and developing their private client focused publications. In addition, I worked for several years at an investor relations boutique advising public companies on their communication and investor strategy.

Most recently I spent five years as a FCA regulated Partner and Fund Manager at a small to mid-cap focused investment management firm, assessing investment opportunities for their core UCITS fund. Additional experience includes Board Adviser and Non-Executive Director roles.

Why Choose MGN Advisory

I’ve worked in the City for many years and have seen a huge number of companies from every angle. In this challenging trading environment where people are looking to save money, I believe I can offer a cost effective and flexible solution.

My experience as a financial journalist (and having worked across multiple business industries) means I know what the media is looking for, and I am well placed to help growth companies communicate their story well. In addition, it is crucial to be fully aware of the nuance between targeting a private investor and institutional audience.

Delivering on financial calendar work is a ‘standard’ for most Investor Relations agencies, but finding solutions, being proactive and looking more broadly at where help is required are key to my ethos. Recent work has included successfully sourcing an acquisition for a public company; advising a growing probiotics business; arranging investor meetings and developing the Annual Sustainability report for a ubiquitous food delivery chain.

If you are a public company or private business (considering an IPO or growth capital) and would like to hear more, meet for a coffee or a Zoom, please do get in touch to see how I can support you moving forward.
